Fried Apple Pie

Ingredients
  

  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 1(8-ounce) package cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • tsp ground all spice
  • 2 cups tart apples peeled,cored and chopped finely
  • 2 tbsp cold unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp coarse sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon sugar

Instructions
 

  •  For crust: in a bowl, mix together flour andsalt.
  •  In a separate large bowl, add cream cheeseand butter and beat until smooth.
  • Slowly, add flour mixture and beat until wellcombined.
  • Divide the dough into 2 balls and then, presseach into a disk.
  • With plastic wrap, cover each dough disk andrefrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 425 °F.
  • Meanwhile, for filling: in a bowl, mixtogether sugar, cinnamon and allspice. Set aside.
  • Divide each dough disk into 12 balls.
  • Place each dough ball onto a lightly flouredsurface and then, roll each into a 4-inch circle.
  • Arrange the dough circles onto a smoothsurface.
  • Place about 1 tablespoon of chopped apples onone side of each dough circle and sprinkle with ½ teaspoon of sugar mixture.
  • Place about ¼ teaspoon of butter on top ofeach in the form of dot.
  • In a small bowl, beat together egg yolk andwater.
  • Brush the edges of each pastry with egg washand then fold it over the filling.
  • With a fork, seal edges firmly.
  • Arrange the pastries onto 2 ungreased bakingsheets about 2-inch apart.
  • Brush the top of each pastry with remainingegg wash.
  •  With a knife, cut a slit in the top of eachpastry and sprinkle with coarse sugar and cinnamon sugar.
  • Bake for about 11-14 minutes or until goldenbrown.
  • Remove the baking sheets from oven and placeonto wire racks to cool before serving.

Notes

You can serve these pies with a drizzling of caramel sauce.
