phyllo dough

white sugar

water
▢

honey

vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat youroven to 350 ºF.
Grease a9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
In a bowl,add the nuts and cinnamonand toss to coat well. Set aside.
Unroll the phyllodough and cut in half.
Arrange 2 doughsheets into the prepared baking dish and coat with some butter.
Repeat with 8dough sheets in layers and sprinkle with 2-3 tablespoons of nut mixture.
Repeat withremaining dough sheets, butter and nuts.
With a sharpknife, cut into diamond shapes all the way to the bottom of the baking dish.
Bake for approximately 50 minutes or until top becomes golden and crisp.
Meanwhile, forsauce: in a pan, add the sugar and water and cook until sugar is melted,stirring continuously.
Stir in the honeyand vanilla extract and simmer for approximately 20 minutes.
Remove the baklavafrom oven and immediately place the sauce on top evenly.
Set aside to coolbefore serving.
Notes
Make sure the phyllo sheets stay moist during the preparation process by keeping the stack covered with a damp paper towel.
