Why do I love To Make Scallops in an Air Fryer?
I generally use my stovetop for cooking scallops, but I wanted to give our new air fryer a try.
The advantage of cooking scallops in an air fryer is that you don’t need to clear out the whole stove-top afterward! Scallops usually result in many splashes and messes on the stove when they’re fried.
Everything is confined in the air fryer; therefore, it is easier to clean all the mess.
Also, they aren’t deep-fried in an air fryer (like in stove-top), thus, making them a healthier alternative.
How Should Long Scallops Be Cooked in the Air Fryer?
Of course, the time may vary depending on scallops’ size, but most will be ready in 6-10 minutes.
If your scallops are small (like the ones used in this recipe), they will be ready in around 6-7 minutes. If you’re using more giant bay scallops, cook them for a little longer (approximately 10-12 minutes).
The key is to watch the scallops for about 6-7 minutes and then take them out when the center barely turns white. When I’m unsure, I like to chop one in half.
What Sides Can I Serve With It?
We prefer to let the scallops take center stage, so we serve them with an easy side dish such as roasted broccoli or asparagus. These simple sides are ideal for this recipe because the capers sauce can also be used on the vegetables!
Some other sides that go well with scallops are:
- white or cauliflower rice
- lentils, polenta, or couscous
- roasted veggies
- citrus fruits with fresh greens
