Stuffed mushrooms are pretty popular, and using an air fryer to prepare them is a game-changer. It’s also an excellent vegetarian starter, and if you want to take it to the next level, top it with crispy bacon bits.

These low-carb mushrooms are simple to create and cook in your air fryer in about 20 minutes. They’re a great game-day snack, but they’re equally impressive as a first course when entertaining guests for an upscale dinner.

Do You Cook Mushrooms in The Air Fryer with Oil?

When using the air fryer, I highly recommend having an Olive Oil Cooking Spray bottle on hand. You’ll want to sprinkle the bottom of the basket or foil with it before putting the mushrooms in. Then, after the mushrooms are ready to cook, respray them with olive oil spray. This keeps the food from drying out as it cooks quickly.

How Should I Wash and Clean Mushrooms?

      Mushroom Cleaning

Always wash the mushrooms right before using them. Do not make them too slimy. Mushrooms are sensitive, so brushing off any loose debris before using them is the best way to clean them. It’s fine to rinse them in a colander as long as you dry them with a clean cloth or paper towel right after. Mushrooms are porous and absorb water, and get mushy during cooking, so keep them as dry as possible.

Is It Possible to Prepare and Freeze Stuffed Mushrooms Ahead of Time?

Yes, you can prepare them ahead of time and freeze them. Keep leftover stuffed mushrooms in a covered container. They will last 2-3 days in the refrigerator. Place them in the air fryer at 400°F for 4-5 minutes to warm them up.

      Tip to Air Fry Mushrooms

The mushrooms may slide sideways as you open and close your air fryer. If you want to avoid that, fold the mushrooms in foil and keep them upright, or place them in a small baking pan and air fry them.
