      Ingredients
        

      • 4 cups sweet cherries stemmed,pitted and halved
      • ⅓ cup brown sugar (divided) plus 1 tbsp
      • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
      • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
      • ¼ tsp salt
      • 1 egg
      • 1 tbsp water
      • 1(12-imch) round chilled pie dough

      Instructions
       

      • Preheat your oven to 375 °F.
      • Line baking sheet with baking paper.
      • In a bowl, add the cherries, ⅓ cup of brown sugar, flour, lemon juice and saltand mix well.
      • With a potato masher, mash the mixture a few times. Set aside.
      • For egg wash: in a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water.
      • Arrange the chilled dough round ontothe prepared baking sheet.
      • Place the cherry mixture onto center of dough, leaving a 2-inch border around theedges.
      • Carefully fold the edgesof dough over filling.
      • Brush the dough with egg wash.
      • Then sprinkle the top of the galettewith remaining brown sugar.
      • Bake for about 40-50 minutes until crust is golden brown.
      • Remove the baking sheet from oven and place the galette onto a wire rack to coolslightly before serving.

      Notes

      You can serve this galette with the topping of ice cream.
