What Is the Purpose of Marinating the Chicken in Yogurt?

Marinating chicken in yogurt tenderizes the meat and infuses it with flavor. The acidity in the yogurt helps to break down the proteins in the chicken, making it more tender and juicy.

How Long Should I Marinate the Chicken in Yogurt?

It is recommended to marinate the chicken in yogurt for at least 2 hours or up to overnight for maximum flavor and tenderness.

Why Should I Use Greek Yogurt Instead of Regular Yogurt for Marinating the Chicken?

You can substitute regular yogurt for Greek yogurt in yogurt-marinated chicken kabobs. However, Greek yogurt is thicker and creamier than regular yogurt, and it’s better at coating the chicken. It also adds a tangy flavor that complements the chicken well.

Expert Tips to Make the Best Kabobs

Soak Wooden Skewers in Water: If you’re using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before using. This will prevent them from burning on the grill.

Preheat the Grill: Make sure your grill is preheated before you start grilling. This will ensure that the chicken cooks evenly and doesn’t stick to the grill.

Cook the Chicken Kabobs Over Medium Heat: Cook the kabobs over medium heat for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.

Serve with A Dipping Sauce: Yogurt-based dipping sauces, such as tzatziki or raita, are perfect for chicken kabobs. They add an extra layer of flavor and help cool down the spicy marinade.
