- 2 cups all-purpose flour Use room temperature ingredients.
- 2 cups sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup butter
- 4 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup boiling water
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup butter plus 2 tbsp
- 4 tbsp cocoa powder
- 6 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup almonds chopped finely
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to350 °F.
- Lightly grease an18x13-inch sheet pan with cooking spray.
- For the cake: in abowl, add the flour, sugar and salt and mix well.
- In a saucepan, addthe butter and cook until melted.
- Add the cocoa powderand stir to combine.
- Stir in the boilingwater and bring to a boil.
- Remove from the heatand place the butter mixture over the flour mixture.
- With a wooden spoon,stir the mixture and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a small bowl, addthe buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract and baking soda and beat until wellcombined.
