Can I make granita with any type of fruit?

Yes, you can make granita with any type of fruit you like. Some popular choices include lemon, lime, orange, strawberry, raspberry, peach, and blueberry. You can also use a combination of fruits to create unique and delicious flavors. For example, a strawberry-lemon granita or a raspberry-peach granita. When making granita with fresh fruits, it is important to use ripe fruits for the best flavor.

How is Granita different from sorbet and ice cream?

The main difference between granita and sorbet is the texture. Granita has a flaky, coarse texture, while sorbet is smoother and creamier. Ice cream is also creamier and has a more decadent taste due to the addition of cream and milk. Additionally, granita and sorbet are usually less sweet than ice cream, making them a refreshing and healthier alternative.

How long can I store granita in the freezer?

Granita can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 months, but it is best if consumed within a week. To store, transfer the granita to an airtight container and place it in the freezer.

It’s important to note that granita can form ice crystals over time which can make it less appealing. To avoid this, cover the granita with a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper, pressing it directly onto the surface of the granita. This will prevent air and ice crystals from forming on top of the granita.
