      What Are Turtle Cookies?

Turtle cookies are a type of cookie made from chocolate, pecan pieces, and caramel. The ingredients are combined into a dough and then baked. The finished product is an indulgent treat that combines the sweetness of chocolate with the crunch of pecans and the gooeyness of caramel for an unforgettable experience.

Are There Different Types Of Turtle Cookies?

Yes! Although traditional turtle cookies typically consist of chocolate chips, pecans, and caramel, many variations in this recipe and other recipes use similar ingredients but different techniques. For example, some recipes call for using crushed waffle cones instead of pecans, adding peanut butter to the batter, or topping it with sea salt instead of caramel sauce. Whatever variation you choose to make your unique turtle cookie will be delicious!

      Where Did Turtle Cookies Originate?

The origins of turtle cookies are difficult to trace since the recipe has many variations. However, it is believed that they originated in the Midwest United States in the 1950s when people began experimenting with combining chocolate chips, nuts, and caramel in different ways. In particular, this combination was popularized by Pillsbury’s Chocolate Caramel Pecan Pie recipe, which called for these ingredients to be combined in a pie shell and baked.
